“I haven’t posted in a while!” I bet you have never read that line on a blog before! Well, here’s another one for you to read:
I haven’t posted in a while. I have had the blessing of being a busy guy most of these past 6 months. I have a couple of fun posts I’ve been slowly tapping away at for a while now. (Topic hints: My girlfriend recorded sounds in Ukraine for me! And I still like recording trains!) In the mean time, I figured I’d share some of the work I’ve been involved with since my last post. Jens Jensen The Living Green a historical PBS documentary I had the pleasure of working on, premieres tomorrow in Davenport, Iowa! Continue reading
Injustice: Gods Among Us launched for PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U last week and has been getting some great reviews!
Happy to share that NoiseFloor handled the the sound design and mix for Injustice’s cutscenes. As one of the sound designers, creating the sounds of the of the DC Universe was an experience I will never forget! Continue reading
Fly-bys and swooshes are a huge part of sound design. While typical library solutions might work, you can’t beat originally created material. For me this is usually done by designing each sound effect individually, and this takes time. You might see how an article by Charles Deenen titled “100 Whooshes in 2 Minutes” piqued my interest. Another big step of my Project Portal mod is complete. Yesterday, I finished replacing all of the delightfully depressing dialogue of the Aperture Science standard-issue floor turret.
I hadn’t planned on replacing any dialogue when I started this mod. I was really only interested in designing SFX. I don’t know what it was, but one day it just clicked. “Stosh, you must turn your girlfriend into a Portal turret”, a voice said in my head. So I set out to do exactly that. Continue reading
I’m always amazed at what a little general processing can do for a recording. You might remember me recording various electromagnetic fields a while ago. This sound came from a color changing flashlight you can see in the video. Continue reading
Check out this hilarious short film by Muve Music/Cricket Wireless I edited sound effects for. Step into the life of a shepherd who really loves his music.
I just finished a fun project that came to me randomly. I decided I would make an audio mod for VVVVVV using only Thor. I’ve beat VVVVVV before and I’d like to think I’m pretty good at it. I’ve also used Thor before but couldn’t say I’m well versed in all of it’s parameters. Continue reading
