This saturday I did some sound collecting for my Portal audio mod. I recorded just about everything in my apartment that makes noise, but I seemed to gravitate toward anything electric. Things like videogame consoles, lights, speakers, hard drives, space heaters… Anything that hummed or buzzed was music to my ears. This certainly won’t be my only day of sound collecting, but it’s a good start. I can’t wait to play around with these to see what I can create!

Here’s one of my favorite sounds I captured. I never realized my apartment elevator sounded so ‘dark’. That is, listening to this recording makes me feel like I’m being lowered into a dungeon of death. Hey, maybe I can use this!
